In April 2019, the University of Edinburgh hosted "Edingow" – the inaugural conference marking a new collaboration between the University of Edinburgh and the University of Glasgow in the field of international law. This call for papers is for Glasginburgh 2020 – the second conference in this series – to be held at the University of Glasgow on June 8-9, 2020. The theme is: "International Law and Distribution: Sustainable Development, Security, and the Governance of Resources." The deadline is November 30, 2019.

The Cambridge International Law Journal is now accepting submissions for its Ninth Annual International Law Conference on the theme of 'International Law and Global Risks: Current Challenges in Theory and Practice'. The Conference welcomes diverse contributions on the concept of risk and its place in the theory or practice of international law. Papers may focus on one or more subject matter areas of international law, such as environmental law, trade and investment, human rights, the law of the sea, air and space law, or international humanitarian law and security.

Abstracts of no more than 500 words should be submitted together with your CV via the link below by Friday, 13 December 2019.

The Alessandro Pavesi ONLUS Foundation has announced the 12th edition of the scholarship named after "Alessandro Pavesi", for an amount of € 12,500.  The scholarship entails attendance of a a post-graduate specialization course at a foreign university chosen by the candidate in the field of human rights for the academic year 2020 - 2021.

To apply you must have:

1. Residence in Italy;

2. A master's degree obtained at an Italian university after July 31 2017 on a topic related to human rights. 

3. An excellent knowledge of the foreign language used in the chosen courses for the use of the scholarship;

4. No criminal convictions.

We have an exciting OPPORTUNITY to represent the University of Milan LL.M Program on Sustainable Development at the Milan Climathon, a 24 hour Hackathon presented by the EU Climate Kic, taking place at the Cariplo Factory on 18,25 and 26 of October, aiming to develop innovative solutions for “Soft mobility tools and services to enhance safety and livability”. The finalists will have access to up to €60.000 grants to bring forth their solutions.

The recommend size of the team is 5 to 7 members, with multidisciplinary backgrounds and energy to make a change! In case we exceed this number of committed candidates, subsequent teams can be built to the limit of the event’s vacancy.

The UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion.

This position is specifically intended to support UNDP’s work with the implementation of the Get Airports Ready for Disaster (GARD) project activities and the portfolio review undertaken by UNDP’s Disaster Risk Reduction for Resilience Team (DRT).

The intern will support the team with the development of communications materials regarding the GARD project results, preparation of implementation of GARD activities at country level, support to organizing of global events such as the 2020 Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week in Geneva, and other project related activities as and when required.

The Master’s degree in Human Rights and Multi-level Governance at the University of Padova, with the support of the Department of Political Science, Law and International Studies and of the Human Rights Centre “A. Papisca” of the University of Padova, is organising the Padova Model UPR 2019, a UN Model (MUN) at the University of Padova.

The Padova Model UPR consists of a simulation of the actual  “Universal Periodic review” procedure. The preparatory phase begins in early October. Students can apply individually or in a group of three.

The Joint Data Center on Forced Displacement is partnering with the Population Studies and Training Center at Brown University and the Evidence for Policy Design (EPoD) and Middle East Initiative (MEI) at Harvard University to organize an international research conference on forced displacement to be held January 17-18, 2020 at the U.N. City in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Scholars working in this subject area are invited to submit papers. To be considered for inclusion on the program, completed papers or extended abstracts should be submitted to JDC2020conference@worldbank.org by September 1, 2019 midnight EST.

A call for papers has been made for the 13th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance. The ICEGOV2020 international conference aims at exploring how the synergies among the communities of technology, policy and social cohesion can be a positive factor for sustainable development. Authors of accepted papers will be able to apply for a UNU-EGOV Scholarship to attend the conference in Greece.

The Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court (FIAM), is the oldest and most prestigious competition in the law of international investment. The race (which consists of an arbitration simulation) takes place entirely in English and involves several universities from around the world. Participation in the FIAM enables the development of highly demanded skills in international professional contexts. It also allows access to a network of high-profile individuals and organizations.

Students interested in participating in the selection must meet the following eligibility requirements:

​

• Be enrolled in a Masters degree in the law faculty

• Have grades between 28/30. The Commission reserves the right to admit candidates who do not meet the grade requirement but demonstrate particular skills and motivation

• Excellent knowledge of English
