Alice Martiny

Milan - Florence

I graduated at the University of Florence in Development economics, international cooperation and conflict management, a branch in the economy school that focuses on the relation between economics and social justice. During this journey I started focusing in all the aspects of sustainability, which culminated in my final dissertation, whose title is "Cooperation and Climate Change: the role of International Organisations and the 'Collective Action Theory' elaborated by Elinor Ostrom". My personal and academic growth take their roots from two main experiences: my exchange program, during which I studied at the Univesity of Sydney for six months, and my internship at Consules, in which I was able to work in the Model United Nations context in Rome and in New York City, both as a delegate and a staff memeber coordinating Florence delegation and the simulation in Rome in March 2018.

Strongly committed to the cause of Sustainable Development. I believe that humankind can

pursue further development only if a greater account is granted to social issues and environmental

protection. In fact, in recent human history, too much emphasis was placed primarily on economic

development to the detriment of terrestrial and marine ecosystems. For this reason, I wish to devote

my abilities to foster a new balance between human action and the protection of the environment.

For these reasons, I am currently pursuing the LL.M. in Sustainable Development offered by the

Università degli Studi di Milano, that allows me to develop a comprehensive approach to

environmental, social and economic issues.

I am keen on biology, ecology, and agriculture; I have developed a strong connection with the

wilderness being an alpinist.

Finally, I am passionate about literature, in particular, I love the movement of realism – I try to

write myself.
